🎉 Celebrating 30 Years with Don Blair! 🎉

Three decades ago, in March of 1994, a young and eager Don Blair stepped through the doors of Hamptons ITM, embarking on what would become an incredible journey spanning thirty years of dedication, growth, and unwavering commitment.

With a spring in his step and a glint in his eye, Don entered the world of Hamptons ITM, ready to make his mark in the industry. Little did he know, his journey would be filled with countless memories, challenges, and triumphs that would shape his career and leave an indelible mark on the company.

Hamptons was much smaller then, (although large on ambition) and Don entered a workplace with seven employees, a far cry from the twenty-five we have now. One constant was Carolyn, who was on hand to guide Don through his early years.

Over the years, Don has witnessed firsthand the evolution of Hamptons ITM, embracing change and driving innovation every step of the way. From advancements in technology to shifts in industry trends, Don has adapted and thrived, contributing to the company’s success and continued growth.

Throughout his tenure, Don has been much more than just an employee—he’s been a cornerstone of the Hamptons ITM family. With his unparalleled work ethic, unwavering dedication, and infectious enthusiasm, Don has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.

As Don reflects on his remarkable journey, he can take pride in his contributions and achievements. His contributions have not only helped shape the success of Hamptons ITM but have also inspired those around him to strive for greatness and never settle for anything less than the best.

As Don celebrates thirty years with Hamptons ITM, we salute his dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Here’s to the next chapter of his journey, filled with even more success, fulfillment, and unforgettable moments

Join us in congratulating Don Blair on this incredible milestone—thirty years of making a difference at Hamptons ITM!

Cheers to you, Don, and here’s to many more years of success and prosperity ahead.

March was a month of celebrations. Not only did we have Don Blair celebrating his thirty years at Hamptons, but we also had Mel Lange reaching the milestone of ten years of faithful service.

Mel’s face is the first that many see when they first come through the door at Hamptons. He is always the first to greet each customer and is well known for his wealth of knowledge and attention to detail.

With a lifetime of experience, Mel has an opinion on everything, especially when it comes to Rugby and Horse racing. Old school in the truest sense of the word, Mel epitomizes the classic Kiwi bloke and is well-regarded by his comrades and customers alike.

Ten years is a long time to be standing on your feet behind the trade counter, and we salute Mel and his dedication to the Hamptons ethos. Service is deeply ingrained in all that he does and we admire his dedication and loyalty to the company and customers.

We now look forward to his next goal of twenty years of service and look forward to sharing a cold beer in celebration.

Hamptons is now a proud stockist of DriStud REPEL, the latest in building wrap technology. We have embraced this new innovation and carry the complete system in stock.

DriStud REPEL not only excels with CodeMark Certification ensuring its efficacy as a fire retardant, vapour permeable, water-resistant, and flexible air barrier, but it also offers a distinct advantage.

In instances where there are delays in cladding delivery, a costly occurrence, DriStud REPEL allows internal work to proceed without waiting for cladding installation (up to 90 days). This flexibility, detailed in its installation guide, provides a crucial buffer, reducing project downtime and associated expenses. This efficiency in construction timelines translates directly into cost savings, making housing construction more affordable overall.

KEY FEATURES:

  • CodeMark Certified
  • Fire Retardant (FR Index:1)
  • UV Exposure: 90 Days
  • Can be direct fixed to timber and steel framing
  • Can be used where cladding is installed over a cavity system or direct fixed cladding
  • Can be used for residential and commercial buildings
  • Thick and strong

This month Andrew Blackler, Hamptons’ quote coordinator and well-known movie buff, has requested a chance to furnish us with what he considers to be the top 5 underrated movies. Movies that deserved a larger audience, but missed out due to timing and circumstance, they didn’t escape the eye of Andrew, and today he tells us the movies we may have missed but are worth revisiting.

1. Pacific Rim: Monstrous creatures known as Kaiju emerge from an interdimensional portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, threatening humanity’s existence. In response, mankind builds massive humanoid robots called Jaegers in a last-ditch effort to save the world from annihilation. So, giant robots and monsters fighting it out over the survival of the human race! What’s not to love? Unfortunately, this movie was released around the same time as “Man of Steel” and “World War Z,” which drew attention to the more well-known characters and books.

2. Real Steel: Boxing Robots! Set in a world where conventional boxing is old and outdated, they have replaced the boxers with robots! Even with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) himself as one of the lead characters, this movie never quite found its feet in the mainstream. This movie also had to contend with movies such as “Thor,” “Captain America: The First Avenger,” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” which also came out at the same time. It’s well worth a watch.

3. Code 8: Set in a dystopian society where people with superhuman abilities face discrimination, a young man with powers joins a criminal crew to support his ailing mother. With a cast that includes a pair of cousins and superheroes from the DC TV Universe, Robbie Amell (Firestorm) and Stephen Amell (Green Arrow), what more could you ask for? Unfortunately, this movie never had a theatrical release in NZ and had a very small release globally, which makes it a lesser-known movie than most on this list. But thanks to the support of the small fanbase, a sequel was just released continuing the story of Robbie Amell’s character.

4. The Nice Guys: Set in 1970s Los Angeles, a mismatched pair of private investigators, played by Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, team up to investigate the disappearance of a young woman. As they unravel a tangled web of conspiracy and corruption, they find themselves embroiled in a dangerous and comedic adventure filled with twists and turns. Again, another movie dwarfed by the Marvel Machine, The Nice Guys had to contend with Captain America: Civil War at release. With its combined elements of comedy, action, and mystery in a way that is both entertaining and unconventional, its distinctive style and tone may have made it a difficult choice for the average moviegoer to choose over the sequel to Captain America.

5. The Man from U.N.C.L.E: Set during the Cold War, a CIA agent, and a KGB operative are reluctantly teamed up to stop a criminal organization from obtaining nuclear weapons. Spies, explosives, and the Man of Steel himself (Henry Cavill)—what could go wrong? While the original TV series from the 1960s had a dedicated fanbase, it was not well-known to the younger generation, which added to why this became an underrated movie. The use of the “Old School” 60s spy format may not have added to the appeal of the movie trying to draw the attention of younger viewers, but this is definitely a must-see movie. Fun note: the last time I watched this was in a hotel room in the centre of Berlin after just having been at part of the remaining Berlin wall.

A great top 5 from Andrew, and we know that he would love the opportunity to discuss these movies and many more if given the opportunity. If you have an alternative top 5, or just love movies in general, feel free to chat to Andrew – you could even give him a plan to price at the same time.

Best wishes,

David & Wendy, Don, Carolyn and the rest of the team at Hamptons ITM
