Greetings and a very warm welcome to our September 2022 edition of Hamptons Happenings…

In this issue we:

After weeks of talking it up, the Canterbury LBP event has now come and gone. A massive thanks to all of our customers who attended. Our initial feedback is that everyone learnt a lot and enjoyed a day away from the tools.

The presentation from Stag Timber was a highlight for many, as was the presentation from the Chamber of Commerce which gave a concise picture of what the future holds for the economy. Taking their new knowledge back to site, we look forward to chatting with our many LBP customers over the coming months.

We’re all big fans of Matt Watson and his ITM fishing show and are pleased to be associated with a genuinely great guy. So it is with a sense of pride that ITM is helping him build his dream home by the sea. You can watch Matt every step of the way on Building the Kiwi Dream on TV3, at 7 pm Saturday nights.

As we all know, things never go as smoothly as planned on a building site, so we feel for Matt with some of the trials and tribulations he faces throughout the build. As Matt rightly points out though, it does make for compelling television and we are hooked already. We have seen some photos and it is a stunning location.

One can see why Matt has chosen such a spot, and we can only hope that we all get an invite to the housewarming once he has finished. All the best to Matt with building his Kiwi Dream, and with ITM right behind him, you know we’ll see him right. You can follow Matt’s progress on these Facebook and Instagram pages.

For some people, it is hard to get excited about Flowfill grout, but one man who is passionate about this particular product is our Account Manager,  Craig Harris.

Bostik Flowfill Grout

Now Craig knows a thing or two about such things, being one of only six people in New Zealand with a National Certificate in Concrete Technology, and he has been waxing lyrically about the benefits of Bostiks Flowfill grout.

It’s affordable, a key attribute in today’s market. It also offers good performance and is manufactured locally, which means you get local support when and if required.  Ideal for grouting in column bases, filling core holes, rod holes, and defects in concrete, we currently have plenty of stock available at the very sharp price of $35 (excl GST).

Come in today to speak to our trade team about your requirements, or ask Craig Harris about those extra tough concrete questions.

We love helping our customers to produce some fantastic work, and there is nothing more pleasing than seeing the end result. We thought this month we would highlight some of the work of our joiners and share their experience of working with Hamptons ITM.

First up, we have Handcraft Kitchens who have been working with us from the very start. I’ll let Rebecca Hand tell of her experiences in her own words:

We have been dealing with Hamptons for over 35 years. We are only a small business but the support they give us is absolutely fantastic! Nothing is ever a problem! They are all so friendly and the whole team makes us feel like a very valuable customer. We couldn’t ask for better service. Thanks, Hamptons ITM.”

Rebecca has supplied the below picture of one of their recent projects – looks pretty sharp Rebecca and co. Keep up the great work!

Oakleigh Fine Furniture have been working closely with their Account Manager Jamie Hawke for several years. As you can see from Sarah’s comments, they are very pleased with Jamie and his service:

“Hamptons ITM is always our first point of call! Jamie is super helpful and picks up on everything I miss! The quality of the product, alongside customer service, is nothing but commendable. From the time of order to delivery – is super fast.

Here is a laundry they recently did with board supplied from Hamptons ITM. Another high-quality result. Thanks to Sarah and the team at Oakleigh Fine Furniture for sharing it with us.

Come in store and check out the Hot Deal we have this month for Bostik Grout!

Everyone is an expert at Hamptons ITM – and not just when it comes to building products!

Each month one of our staff will offer up a top 5 from one of their specialist subjects outside of the building industry.

They say philately (stamp collecting) is dying out, but in one small corner of Hamptons ITM, the passion for collecting tiny pieces of paper still burns bright. This week our door hardware, and stamp, expert Dene tells us what five New Zealand stamps you should look for in that childhood stamp album you have at the back of the closet

The top 5 stamps to find in your New Zealand Stamp Collection (if you have these in your New Zealand collection most likely you will have a very nice collection!)

1. 1855/62 Queen Victoria full face queen. New Zealand’s first stamps and very collectable
2. 1931 Red & Blue Boys Health stamps – The Red & Blue Boy Health stamps are highly sought after and the key stamps in the Health collections. Around 75,000 of the red boy and 112,000 of the blue boy were sold.
3. 1905 Lighthouse 2d chocolate no V.R – Very hard to find! I found one a few years back and it was quite heavily stamp marked, but I still sold it for $100. Now the same stamp used is worth closer to $300.
4. 1898 Mt Cook 5/-
The Mount Cook 5/- a high-value stamp from 1898 of the iconic Mt Cook.
5. NZ Stamp Duty Revenues. (all years) – Lastly, the Arms & Revenue stamps, are very collectable as not all the public used them and most of the values were quite high, so if you have some of these in your collection you’ll be doing alright.

Best wishes,

David & Wendy, Don, Carolyn and the rest of the team at Hamptons ITM
