Hot take on the All Blacks team
With this season’s All Black team named, we’ve canvassed opinion from the experts at Hamptons ITM for their hot take on Ian Foster’s team. Here’s what we make of the team.
Mel Lange: Trade counter, armchair selector
I worry about the AB Captain – there’s a question mark as to whether his body will make it through game after game. George Bridge should have made the team, but obviously, the powers that be know better than me. Buck Shelford says we need more mongrel in the forward pack, and I agree with him…
Should Tuivasa-Sheck be in the squad? There’s no denying that he’s good and we’re eyeing the world cup, but I think it’s too soon…
Don Blair: Team Leader, former manager of West Melton under 12’s
Good to see so many new caps, they are looking at blooding in young players for the future and looking ahead to the World Cup. Get them in the squad, part of the AB culture and professionalism, and give them a taste of the big time. It’s a good opportunity, and I think the mix is right.
Should Tuivasa-Sheck be in the squad? I think it’s too soon. Good to have new caps on the team, but I don’t think he is quite ready to fit that All Black mould.
Damian van den Hondel: Dispatch, has watched every game in the last 15 years
I think the man from Canterbury should be in the coaches’ box! Some of the All Blacks leadership group are a risk from an injury perspective. Ethan de Groot should have made the squad. I think there are a few other players that the selectors put ahead of him – that shouldn’t be.
Should Tuivasa-Sheck be in the squad? I think it is too early. He looks good because the Blues have been successful and are playing well. A lot of players look good playing for the Blues.

Mid-winter and one of our account managers is still happily out there BBQing. We can’t name names, but this guy sure does fancy himself as the BBQ king!
Is it your account manager? Give him a call today to find out.

Ear Muffs
Winters can be cold in North Canterbury where he lives, so the owner of a construction project felt he was doing a good deed when he bought earmuffs from Hamptons for his foreman.
Noticing, however, that the foreman wasn’t wearing the earmuffs even on the coldest, bitterest day, the project manager asked, “Didn’t you like the muffs?”
The Foreman said, “They’re a thing of beauty.”
“Why don’t you wear them?” the Project Manager said.
The Foreman explained, “I was wearing them the first day, and somebody offered to buy me smoko, but I didn’t hear him! Never again, never again!”
